How to clean TB??? Did it once but not sure I did it right.
Ok, here was what I did on my Integra. Engine was cold, had one of my friends step on the gas pedal to open up the inside of the throttle body. Sprayed inside the TB with some TB/intake cleaner I bought from Kragen. I think I sprayed more than liberally like what some suggested. Saw the black residue coming out from the TB.
So I was ok, so I crank up the engine. I was expected it to be hesitating and having white smoke coming out. Engine hesitate JUST A SEC and started up fine......saw some like white smoke, but I think that was just the stuff that comes out when the engine is warm.
So did I do it properly?
Another way I was told to clean the TB, start up the engine, open up the TB inside and sprayed the cleaner while the engine is still running. Is this ok?

IMO, you really have to pull the whole TB off to clean it well.
That way you can be sure you got all the gunk off and all the carb cleaner residue out.
If you don't want to do that, get a rag and use that to get more off the gunk out of the TB. The spray might loosen it, but not all of it is going to come out with out some agitation.

Like Style said to do it properly you need to take of the TB. But I only take it off at tune up time, for regular maintenance spray some carb cleaner into the TB and use an old toothbrush to scrub the back of the throttle plate and bore.

also, one thing you want to keep in mind if you spray some carb cleaner in there with the engine running, as soon as you crack the TB a little clean behind, your engine will rev up so keep that in mind as well.

yeah thats how I cleaned mine except when I had it open I used a toothbrush and a rag to wipe up all the gunk on the TB especailly on the backside of the throttle plate.. it was dirty as hell (95) on my car.... after I did that I did it w/ the motor running.. make sure you hold the straw/spray pointer.. you don't want that getting sucked into your tb...
