catalytic converter bolts
I had an exhaust leak on my car. So I looked under the car and there is no gasket between the catalytic converter and exhaust. But I also noticed no nuts or threads on the bolts from the cat to the exhaust. Have attached pictures to help.
Is this normal?

Re: catalytic converter bolts
There should be a triangular gasket lol. Not to mention it should be completely sealed. You're going to have to grind/drill or knock out the old bolts, get a new gasket, and some new bolts. Cats get ridiculous hot so bolts tend to rust and stick in hardcore.

Hey man I was wondering if you could give me some info? Im having trouble finding the right size bolts to fit in that hole my catalytic converter looks just like yours. I have to put 6 bolts on the front and back of the converter. What size bolts did you use? Everything I'm trying is either too big or too small nothing perfect. No auto parts places around me have anything for it either.

Yes, the o-ring gasket for that connection is OEM. But if you're rusted as that pic, you'll have to make do with a triangular gasket. Buy a piece of crush gasket and cut it out. Sand everything as flat as you can get it. Might have to cut and drill the bolts off.
As opposed to the tapered doughnut gasket (uses spring loaded bolts to account for flex), this side just has normal bolts with lock washer and nuts. Just get some bolts that are long enough and problem solved.
