Default car shakes when stopping

car shakes when stopping, like violently. brake pedal feel is normal. car drives perfectly, only when happens when stopping in the range of about 40-50 MPH. getting off the highway it feels fine, then get into the 40-50mph zone and it shakes violently until under 35 mph. then when i drive on normal roads it will not shake at all. Rotors don't appear to be warped, and friend told me might be wheel bearing, but when i jack up the car and try and move the tire, it wiggles ever so slightly, like maybe .5mm to 1mm if i had to put a number on it. BJ boots do look worn as well, and have heard it might be ball joints as well. Any advice?

Did you torque those lug nuts to 80 foot pounds?

When above 40 mph, do you hear a roar, coming from the front? If so, does it increase as you speed up, but go away when you go into a turn?

80 ft pounds? no i havent but i can do it and see what happens. No roar whatsoever or noises. When I hit the brake on the highway, it feels fine, then you gradually start to feel a vibration, then when it gets to about 50MPH then it vibrates violently, like shakes the entire car pretty bad, then under 30 goes away and feels normal. My buddy had an integra with a bad WB and you could hear almost like a whine or roar or humming noise from the wheel when he was driving but I have no noise at all.

Ur wheels COULD be loose but ud probably feel that while driving(not just braking), if it were me id start checking all suspension/braking components: bushings, rotors(bother sides), ball joints, wheels bearings, tie rods, etc and believe or not that .5-1mm of movement makes a drastic change in the feel. My truck had a bad drivers ball joint n it only moved about as much as that when i checked it n it felt like it moved an inch when i would turn, it felt like the wheel was goin to fall off! So that mite b ur culprit man

so when I jacked the car up again, the boots to both BJs looked worn, but how would I tell if they were bad? and also the inner tie rod boot was ripped back and I can see the metal ball/knuckle and grease, which I'm assuming is bad? lol. What is a way I can tell if they are bad as well?

I had the same issue and it ended up being my rotors on my old Oddy. Double check that its a cheap and easy fix.

Rotors can look perfectly fine and still be warped. Jack up the front of your car, take the wheels off, and put the car into 1st gear so the tires are rotating. Have a look at the the calipers as the rotor rotates. If you see the calipers moving back and forth excessively you may need to have them replaced or resurfaced.

So jack up the car, take off wheels, turn on car, put into 1st, get out of car and watch to see if the pad is moving back and forth on rotor? If so then warped rotor?

There is probably brake pad imprints on your rotors. When this happens, there are high spots on your rotor and this will cause wheel vibration when braking. This happens when cheap material(soft) pads are used in conjunction to having your brakes applied at a stop light when there is excessive heat on the rotors.

Either way, you need to get new rotors or resurface. I recommend centric premium rotors with honda oem pads. They are low on dust and much better quality than cheap ceramic pads you find at your local auto parts store.

I agree with checking the rotors first. Also, sounds like it could be a caliper issue?
