So I know trunk actuators are a common problem on Integras as it wont shut at all using the latch. I got the trunk to lock using the key but every time I go back out to my car the trunk is unlocked again. Also when it locks it doesnt seem to be completely secure as you can slightly move the trunk up and down. I can even tell its not completely secured by the slight gap in between the trunk and taillights.

So my question is does the trunk actuator actually have anything to do with locking/opening the trunk with the key? Could another part be bad or is there some secret way of locking the trunk with the key? Do I have to turn the latch and the key to lock it?

Trunk/hatch latch problems are common on 98+ Integra.

first thing I would do is test the latch itself, you can use a screwdriver with a shaft diameter the same as the striker or unscrew/blot the striker itself and use it to see if the latch is working properly.

If the latch does work properly maybe all you need to do is adjust the striker, [up or down]. 94

Im assuming the latch is the part on the bottom of the trunk and the striker is the U shaped bar connected to the hatch?

Well I can cycle the latch by pressing down on it with my finger. Im going to order an actuator just wondering if that will solve this problem or not. Hopefully its still watertight as its raining right now.
