Default a/c compressor not working properly

I have searched through a lot of threads but none has helped me with my problem. My a/c compressor kicks in but immediately shuts off. But sometimes it stays on for a while and then I drive a little bit and it does the same thing. The system has the right amount of freeon and all the relays are fine. Another thing is when the compressor stays on the air that blows out is not very cold. Any help will greatly be appreciated.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that my car has an aluminum radiator not the stock radiator.

It looks like the a/c compressor wants to keep going but it shuts off. I dont know if the compressor is bad or if its not getting enough power. I tried everything i know but it still does the same thing.

Double check your freon levels. My caprice would engage and disengage when I was out of freon and refilling it fixed this problem.

Also you didn't mention your integra year, but for the 90-93s they have a big problem with water leaking through the firewall. Bad thing is alot of that water ends up inside your blower motor and can short it out as well as a few other things. You might have to chase the wiring to see if there's anything wrong with ur electrical.

How do you know you have the right level of refrigerant? It sounds to me like you might be right on the edge, high enough to kick on the compressor, but not high enough to keep it running.

I just ran through the troubleshooting guide in the honda service manual for my car, it's very good and not too hard if you can use a multimeter. I found that my ecu had a bad section that was not sending the signal from the HVAC controls to the compressor clutch, there were no other symptoms that would indicate an ecu problem. Good luck.

My acura is a 94 ls. Its weird because when I add more freeon it does not even turn on and I can smell the freeon. Also when I add more freeon the compressor makes a weird noise. Everything else is working fine the relays and the fan.

Again, I ask you how you know you have the RIGHT level of refrigerant? You can have too much as well as too little, which would cause the condenser to kick off as well. Do you have a gauge that you use when adding refrigerant?

had a similar problem. The plug from the A/C condenser got loose. So it would turn off and on.

I have a gauge where I checked the freeon but what plug on the condensor are you talking about? Because the cover that does on top of the pipe where you add the freeon is not on there.
