broke a screw that fastens airbox lid...
As the subject states, I just put in a new K&N air filter today, and as I was tightening the screws up, I must have turned the last one too tight and it snapped in half.
So now the half of the screw is stuck on the bottom half...where it screws in (see pic below). So how do I get this out? Anyone ever had this happen to them before? And is ok to just have two screws on the airbox? It seems ok...but I don't want to screw my engine up.
Also, where can I get a new screw for this? Home Depot???
the screw that broke is circled...
the part of the screw that survived...

Where's it going into? The frame? Can't you reach up through the underside and push it out with your hand or an object?

Actually,
I wouldn't worry about it... The other 2 screws will hold the cover down just fine. If you do want to fix it you will have to drill out the bolt and get a new one from Acura.

try and drill it out with a left hand drillbit so it will hopefully help back it out, use a very small bit, half the size of the screw.
good luck, I would just leave it in there and not worry about it.

Ok, looks like I'll let it go for now, maybe when I am at the dealer for some service I'll see if they can get it out...since I don't have a drill, and that seems to be the only way to get it out. The lid sits flat, so I don't think there should be any problems.
Nighthawk GS-R...I'm from PA...relatively close to NJ, but I've never heard of the band Fubar, but by their choice of that name, they must kick ***!
