Bridgestone Potenza S-O3 vs. Yokohama AVS-ES100
I am going to be getting new wheels very soon and it is time for new tires. I am currently using the S-O3's and all I have to say is that they are the best street tire that I have ever used (I have also used the falken azeni's also). They have impressive grip in dry weather (IMHO the azeni's gripped a little better and they were a little sharper than the S-O3's) but they absolutely rock in the rain. You can do 90-100+ in standing water without fear of hydroplanning and they work better than expected in colder weather. It is time for another set of tires and I have decided between the SO-3's and the AVS ES100. My question is are the yokohama's up to par with the SO-3's in the dry and the wet? If not then I will just go for the S-O3's (the price difference between the two is $250+) How is the tire wear and can they stand up to abuse (auto-x)? I like being able to drive to an auto-x event using the same tires and still being competitive. How do you guys rate the AVS ES100's? Thanks in advance for your help

Es 100 although a real good all around performance tire. i dont think it can compete against S03s which are a really good performance tire. Just go to tire rack and match the tires against each other. Im pretty sure s03s beats es 100 on every category EXCEPT tire wear. Since the treadwear of s03s are pretty low they will of course wear out a lot quicker. I just grabbed another set of es 100s for my eh3. I think the wet traction is pretty close to each other. Bdepends if you have the money to spend every 6-8 months depending how hard you drive i guess. My friends so3s only lasted about 5-7k since he went to one road racing event during the time of having s03s on. I like the es 100s since they have a pretty good sidewall and will last a bit longer than the s03s, since i do a bit more daily driving with them and are real good in the rain. i htink the es 100s are 280 treadwear. So for me i would think it would go down to how much daily driving you do and how much money you have to spend every couple months.

I've owned both of the sets you mentioned, but was not concerned with the wear cause I didn't own them long enough to rate that.
I loved the S-03's, but didn't get the same feeling from the avs-es100; I'd say go with the S-03s again if you can swing it.
or............here's an alternative I'm going to give a try, that I've heard from a couple guys (road racers) work well on the street, and very well on the track:
kuhmo ecsta MX
these will be my next tires cause I think they can be had for much less than the S-03.
