blower motor issues
climate blower motor died but i pulled and tested and it's ok (4 seasons makes awesome motors, at least they did 10 years ago). switched the under hood relays but no dice and fuses are ok. i also get no a/c light when i push the button and the fans dont come on either. a/c refrigerant pressure has been ok all summer.
bad blower motor switch perhaps? but would that cause the a/c issues as well?
i can likely get through the winter by popping the moonroof a bit to pull heat out of the dash but it is puzzling. suggestions?

Re: blower motor issues
the resistor is the likely suspect according to this:
if so the standard intermotor looks like the way to go:

Blower resistor may be the problem, but you normally get the fast speed only if it is the resistor.
Unplug the blower motor and test for power on the blue/white lead, with ign, switch on.
There are two(2) fuses for the blower relay main power 40A in engine bay fuse box and the switched power 7.5A in under dash fuse box.
If there is power on the blue/white, plug the blower back in and supply a direct ground, [jumper lead] from chassis to the blue/black lead, if blower motor works, the problem must be either the blower resistor or more likely the blower speed switch or wiring to it.94

Re: blower motor issues
pulled the resistor and tested, got 3.3 ohms instead of 2-3 spec.
standard intermotor unit is on the way, will update next week.
here's a more detailed guide:

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # HS257
cheapest price i could find and they make good stuff afaik...

Re: blower motor issues
havent tested switch or wiring, everything else is ok.
afaik low a/c pressure wasnt messing with blower when i had that issue.
resistor was out of spec so it needed replacing according to helm.
thing was fillthy with almost all ceramic coating gone.
that was $18 and the blower switch was $10.
how much of your labor would $28 buy mr. fcm?

Re: blower motor issues
well i'm ok with replacing $20 parts once every 20 years lol.
helm says approx 2-3 ohms for the resistor, i got 3.3 so maybe
it's ok but looks nasty.
getting at that switch doesnt look like fun though.
at highway speeds the sunroof does pull out a decent amount of heat
so i may wait for warmer weather. where are the two grounds located?

Re: blower motor issues
You said everything else is OK, does that mean you have power, [12V+] going to the blower motor, [blue/white]?
If so, supply a ground, [using a jumper lead from chassis] to the blower ground lead, blue/black, if blower works, the problem is either the resistor, the switch, wiring to the resistor or wiring to the switch.
If blower works with ground jumper, pull the HVAC, [heater] control and test the black lead for continuity to ground, if good, use a jumper from the black lead to the blue/black lead, if blower works replace switch. 94

Re: blower motor issues
ok switch and resistor replaced, motor works with a jump.
no voltage at the motor on the blue/white.
so it's either open wire/bad ground/bad relay right?
(or bad new parts).
it's 20f out there now so i'm not too motivated atm lol.

Re: blower motor issues
lmao summer temps here in the ozarks boonies finally provided the motivation necessary to revisit this issue. everything on the fsm flow chart tested ok but no dice. pulled the battery so i could get at the
lower part of the underhood fuse box just out of curiosity. cracked it open but it's still loaded with dielectric grease. put everything back together and a/c now works great!:w00t:!!!
so the question now is did the ecu reset while battery was out do the trick?:hmmm:
