Yes that could be why, pcv valve is VERY important. DO NOT DRIVE UR CAR WITHOUT IT!!!!!

not really

if the black box is open the case is venting. if the vacuum side is plugged it won't cause smoke like this. the main cause of this would be

1. rings that haven't seated or won't due to various reasons
2. not replacing valve guides in the head when the valve job was done....or how well the valve job was done

3. valve seals...probably not this since a monkey could do this right.

good chance it's one of the upper two.

Yes really...

It could cause smoke due to the crankcase pressures if it was plugged.

Pcv is used to recirculate the pressures built up in the crankcase.
Too much pressure causes oil to seep past things like the rings and gaskets.

I though you said not to drive it if its not hooked up now your saying plugged .... More then anything rings didnt seat right or someone didnt replace valve seals

PCV is an emissions thing.. you dont want it venting into the atmosphere because of the HC. So it gets sucked back into the intake manifold to be burnt off

Because alot of people dont kno the purpose and plug it up after takin it off. I have worked on a few ghetto rigged cars that have done that.
Regardless, its needed to run correctly or some type of breather set up.

you just making up the story as you go?

magic plug maybe?

i'm not sure about you but nothing actually means nothing in my world. like it would mean no pcv and an open hole. that's generally how i would receive the word "nothing"

you're right though. if the op is lying about his own car and making a fake post while the box is actually plugged then yes it can lead to oil burning

Thanks for the flaming, its greatly appreciated ... I bet you feel better now.

Ya now that you pointed it out, i do understand now. What i read was that the black box wasnt even on (prob dyslexia), and when its not on ive seen people not too familiar with cars plug them. And thats why i stated that.

So in my part, ya i misread the information and didnt notice that he DID have the black box on.

rings didn't seat or the valve job was off

if the block wasn't bored, honed and fitted with larger pistons there's the 1st place i would look

new rings on old pistons only works if there is no cylinder distortion which means you measure out of round with a bore gauge

do a compression test when the car is warm and see what numbers you come up with

^^ dont you mean a leakdown test for a better reading??

do a leakdown test,

hissing out the dipstick = rings

hissing in intake mani= intake vales not seating good ect. ect.

your gauge should be under 10% which is normal

if he has access to one it would be even better. compression generally will reveal leaking but a leakdown would be best
