Power Washing Engine Bay
Hi, I own an 87 integra ls,
I have searched and nothing came up
My parents are power washing everything, House, sidewalks, decks etc...
Anyway, I was thinking about giveing my engine bay
a fast little powerWashing
So What all do I need to cover if anything?
I really just want to do my block and tranny
but is there anything that needs covering?
Also, Do Not flame about the car,
Its my first car, cheap, but runs
I am currently looking for a DA,
Anyway, Doesnt look too bad for everything having 233,xxx Miles
And redlines no problem.
And a few pics
Please excuse the pics, as its only a 2.0 MP digi cam
Thanks, Later

Let the bay air dry btw don't start it right away. If your car bogs or wont start after the drying period then pull out your plug wires and look down at the spark plugs. Likely water will have gotten down there and you'll have to wrap something in paper towel to get down there to absorb the water.

for 35-40 bucks you can take your car to where the dealerships take their cars and have it steam cleaned. powerwashing even with hot water from the tap does about half the job steamcleaning does. it will take ALL of the dirt and grime off of the engine. engines rely on being able to radiate heat to stay cool. especially on tightly packed engine bays like hondas. give it a shot.

i tried em all. foamy, simple green and a brush, 10 bucks at the car wash, nothing does the job like steam. it lets you spot exactly where those damn little seep leaks are coming from in the first place. on my 94 teg. i had to fix 10 of them to keep it clean. now my engine cones perfectly clean at the car wash. its great.

Re: (Deluzional)
a few of my friend have power washed their engine bay.. and after a lil while, we notice hard water deposit (spots like you see on paint if you dont dry your car) on the block and the head and most of the metal parts.
Personally, i just take simple green and spray it all over the engine bay and hit it with a scrubing brush and a tooth brush for small area-corners. then spray it off with water.. Simple green does wonders for me. you can eat off my engine lol

I second that. It was 60 at my old dealership for 15 mins worth of work.

since youre removing engine grease and grime, dont dilute it...actually the instruction on the bottle tells you how much of the solution to use for certain jobs and surfaces

i have never paid more than that. call around and ask the local car dealers where they have it done. most of your smaller dealerships do not do their own detailing. the steam cleaning takes 20 minutes tops on even the dirtiest engine if they have adequate equiptment.
