B18C1 experts...I need your help!
I recently picked up a really clean '00 GS-R and have recently run into some mechanical issues. I knew it had minor issues that needed to be ironed out when I got it, but someone owed me money and this was what we settled on.
At any rate, it was picked up in FL and driven up to NC. During the drive up, I noticed that the back end was becoming saturated with oil. It seemed like a very fine mist was being spewed out of the exhaust and it was covering the entire right side of the rear bumper/right taillight. I checked the oil level (while the engine was at running temp) and the dipstick was dry So I added oil and went about my way. At the next gas stop, it took another quart. Either way, the car was running and pretty strong at that.
Fast forward about a month or so, my dad and I decided to change out the valve seals thinking they were the cause of the issue. This was when I started noticing that someone had butchered up the motor. I've had three LS's in the past and have always been a B-series enthusiast if you will...and know that the intake manifold on the GS-R is different. From what I could tell, this was not the correct intake manifold for the C1 (see pictures).
Knowing what I know about the person I got the car from, they had either swapped parts out for cheap performance "upgrades" or, when they got the car, the motor was missing stuff so they just slapped on random B18 parts to get it running. So we ended up finishing with the valve seals and when everything was back together the car ran like garbage. We took it to an Acura mechanic my dad knew and he troubleshot it to bad wiring?!
We got the car back from this mechanic and it was still running like crap. Idle is screwed up (idles super low) and the motor's still burning oil. I honestly don't know what he did but he did acknowledge that it wasn't up to spec as far as factory parts were concerned. So the car sat for a while. We later came to know another guy that said he could help...$1200 later, after he "took the head off and rebuilt it, nothing. Car's still running exactly as before.
I need some help. I'm thinking this has to do with the fact that it doesn't have the correct intake manifold on it, and a few other things. Anyone in the Raleigh area that can help?? I'm at a loss as to why it was running fine with what it had on it and now after two mechanics have taken a look at it, it's nowhere near running right. Before you say it, we're fully aware of schemes mechanics pull but these two were individuals that we knew personally. It is still a raw wound though considering the amount of time/money we gave them and no results.
Sorry for the long post! Wanted to make sure all details were presented. Thanks for reading!

I would start with the obvious and get a stock manifold (if its running the original p72 ecu). I dont see any pictures so I can't help with that. Also have you done any compression or leak down tests?
btw gsr manifolds go for dirt cheap, like 20 bucks at times. Also make sure you have the correct hoses. I always end up replacing the hose from the thermostat directly to the intake manifold (only OEM and #9 in the link) because I f*ck them up somehow lol

My bad! Forgot to insert the pics. I've included them with this post (posting from mobile so hopefully they show up)...I'll try to get more once I get to the house.
Thanks for the responses so far! I've been thinking of doing exactly what you've both suggested. Going back to stock and going from there...

sounds like your problems lie in the bottom end.
compression check?
your car has either a first gen blox or skunk2 manifold theres nothing too them.find a diy install for either manifold and that will give you a idea of where all the lines that come off it go. try team integra forums for that think there writeup still has good images.theres atleast 2-3 floating around the web that are decent.
adjust your idle unplug the iacv adjust the throttle screw and plug it back in and clear the code.should be at about 850 rpm. then check your ignition and mechanical timing and make sure there spot on and not 1 tooth out from removing and installing head.
should keep you busy on a Saturday.

Responses are awesome! I'll see if I can't find one of those write-ups and start with that. May end up picking up a factory manifold just in case. And then we'll move onto a compression check.

any check engine codes i would start from there! that manifold wouldnt cause you to idle bad, either you have some plugs switched around like the map and tps which happens, Are you guys sure you assembled everything back to spec and the timing belt isnt off a tooth or two? Did you set the valve lash after getting the head back rebuilt? or even when you replaced the valve seals?

That manifold is an aftermarket type r manifold. Replacing it with a oem gsr wouldn't make much of a difference. You should check the compression of that engine. If possible, a leak down test might help pinpoint the problem.
If oil is spraying a fine mist out from the exhaust, that motor probably needs to have the bottom end rebuilt. Along with that, a new catalytic converter will probably be needed as well. Be sure its oil that's coming out and not just moisture mixed with exhaust soot.

Just came across your post. I have a GSR IM that needs a good home. I think i have an injen intake also. Let me know if this could help you, I'm in NY so it will have to be shipped. Sounds like your problems are deep inside the motor though.
Just BTW you were adding oil on the way home and didn't notice the wrong IM. The GSR manni is pretty unique.
