b18c vtec engagement.

Default b18c vtec engagement.

i have been looking up when my vtec is suppose to kick in. i read that it is suppose to happen at 4400rpm or 5500rpm. mines is coming on at 6200rpm. dose the ecu you run affect wht rpm it kicks in? i have a pr3 and a p72 just wanted to knw.

What ecu are you useing when it engages at 6200rpm?

i think obd0 vtec motors it engaged at 4400 but the newer models are supposed to around 5500 my b17 is around 5800. probably that ecu. id be running the stock ecu unless you're tuned.

its the pr3 tht hits at 6200. its not tuned or anything. i havent tryed the p72 yet.

Try the p72 as that's the ecu is for your motor and see if that fix's the problem

put in the p72 i cant really hear the vtec hit. but if it is i think its going at around 5500. but the pr3 tht pops vtec loud and hard but at 6200.

The IAB kicks in at ~5700 on a P72. That it's what you heard. The VTEC crossover should not kick or be felt on a B18C1.

stock p72 hits at 4400. IAB at 5700. You shouldn't be able to tell it's kicking in. I went from a p73 ecu on my b18c1 where vtec popped super hard after the p72 was put in i thought vtec wasn't on. Stick with the stock p72 ecu. it'll give you better performance than anything else besides a dyno tune. i learned this recently.

thanks. yeah im gonna stick with the usdm p72 but im might just try to get the jdm ecu cause i have a b18c.

if you have a jdm engine, run a jdm ecu and vice versa. i have an p73-003 itr ecu that i no longer need. its virgin ill give it to ya for 110 shipped.
