B18C 96 Spec MPG
So I just got my car tuned a few weeks ago and my gas mileage has improved but not where I thought it would be. I'm getting around 200khm for half a tank. I never let my car go below half because for some reason, the last half on the tank get really shitty mileage. So if I fill it up every half I can get 400khm a tank which is only 250miles. 1995 RS 4DR Integra has a 13.2 gallon tank only giving me 19mpg. Anyone know why my mileage is so low? One contribution is that I have black crap on my bumper that doesnt smear, just wipes off which is suppose to be unburnt fuel, but I thought that the reason my my car was running so rich was that it wasn't tuned after being put in the car. Any suggestions as to where to look? Doing research most people say that the b18c should be getting roughly 30-36mpg freewway and 26-30mpg city. I always drive freeway so I'm getting 19mpg freeway. I drive conservatively most of the time but occasionally use vtec.

that being said im not sure if the gsr has the same size tank and I do about 130-135kph steady lol so I guess i'm "cheating" a bit

The stuff on the bumper is black dusty like texture and it accumulates a lot on the back. It's black dots all over. I would take a picture but I just cleaned it off and theres really small ones on it now just dont have a camera that will focus on the small ones. When I hit vtec it'll only be for no more than 5-6 seconds and usually when I'm merging onto a freeway or switching lanes. Also I get incredibly bad mileage on the second half of the tank which I don't know why.

I need a pic of the SPARK plugs tho lol. the bumper soot/dust really isn't much to go on. when you first fill up the needle doesn't move giving the elusion that you are getting great millage(trust me I know that feeling).

BUT take a wire brush to them and see if it comes back what ecu do you have, not a s300 right ?

Re: B18C 96 Spec MPG
when you run down to half and refill do you divide mileage driven into the actual gallons of gar you used? if not you arent figuring your mileage correctly. the second thing is like the others said running way rich. I'd be surprised if you are getting 19 mpg with plugs that black. that much soot might clog your cat and muck up your O2 sensor.

How I find out gas mileage is waiting til the needle meets almost half. Record mileage, times it by two. Then times that by .621 to get mpg. The plugs were black from the soot and I just got the car tuned about two weeks ago and haven't cleaned them off yet.

Hey I just wanted to say that the gas needle is not always accurate, in my car my needle goes way past e until the gas light comes on, where as my old teg had the gas light come on before hitting e. The proper way to measure your mpg is by first having a full tank, then whenever you decide to fill up, divide the miles you traveled by the amount of gas it took you to fill your gas to full tank.
SO MILES TRAVELED/GALLONS FILLED TO FULL TANK = MPG

Ex: 310.7m/10.623gal=29.247 mpg. That's actual numbers for my car, 98 civic hatch B18C with bursts of VTEC. You don't have to figure it off of a full tank.

Doesn't that bother you cause most people get 30ish mpg which is almost 400 a tank and we merely get almost half that? Is yours completely stock?

Re: B18C 96 Spec MPG
its my first honda so i really have nothing to compare it too.
plus the person i bought her from had the car partially finished and i had to pretty much piece together what the previous owner hacked up to put the motor in it, wires, mods, ext.
Thats why im on here to gain all the knowledge i can! I'm a subaru guy so this stuff is fairly new to me.

Also filled up my tank today and it turns out I get roughly 22mpg but still uncertain about how to get this crap off my bumper because I know that it is most likely unburnt fuel. So that being fixed would improve mpg.

12.0afr is a bit rich for an NA car. I would lean it out to 13 at wot. What are the part throttle afrs? I'm not a tuning expert by any stretch, but I know enough to be dangerous. Lol

Re: B18C 96 Spec MPG
tuned by whom?
a stock b18c should get 26-29mpg no matter what you do to it, city, highway, little difference. i blew up 2 of those and sold the 3rd over the years.
your "tune" is off, why aren't you on a stock ecu if it's a stock engine? OE honda map is excellent
