You might need a valve job if it's still making noise.

before i did the valves they were not as loud as they are now,
i made the loser, im sure the intake was .003. i changed it to .005. im not to sure about what the exhaust was before i did them. so should i tighten the up more than they are now? something like intake .003 and exhaust .006?

Factory spec for the B18B and B20B/Z is:

Intake: 0.003"-0.005"
Exhaust: 0.006"-0.008"

You adjusted one of them too tight and its not closing all the way. The ticking sound is likely the valve guides being worn and allowing the valves to wiggle just a bit side to side.

my guess is that the first few times you tried the engine wasn't cold. so your valves weren't within tolerance the first few times and the's why they were loud.

Im assuming you are rotating the engine for each cylinder correct? Are you tightening them down to spec?

yeah. i did the #1 cylinder at TDC with the cam marks or holes in the cams facing up. then for the #3 i went 180 degrees counterclock wise. the marks were facing the exhaust. i did the same for the #4 and the marks were facing down. then i did the #2 the same and the marks were facing the intake. i just went outside and they were still quiet so ill see if they stay quiet tonight
oh yeah i notice i had a fuel leak from the injectors so i just changed the o rings and stopped the leak.
