ok i dont have the inner and outter top timing belt cover on my lsvtec... the head is a 92jdm b16.. Do i need to have the inner timing belt cover for the out timing belt cover to work?
anylinks or pictures would help!, thanks

No, you don't need the inner portion. The outer portion bolts to the head without that piece.

thank you, do u have any links or picture to support your comment, i was told other wise by my friend who has the same part, and is lazy and doesn't want to take the cam gears off because of this...

Yeah alot of people remove the inner as it causes rubbing

I have this one. It is hard to tell, but the back cover is non-existent. I would take pictures now, but I don't even have the outer cover installed at the moment.

thanks for the picture.. what kind of motor is that lsvtec or what? and why is your outer cover off? how many Bolts do i need to buy? just 2 correct? will ones from a SOHC work?

this is what im working with right now, as you can see my valve cover is cut the same way.. and You can also see one bolt hole in the picture? so what is the purpose of the inner timing belt cover? and Why do so many people just take them off... i never heard of a rubing issue. If it was bolted down all the way. and not warped..?

I sure do...and I am proud of them.

It is a GSR. My cover is off because I just replaced my lost motion assemblies and forgot to put it on, and once I realized it, the valve cover was already put on and torqued down.

so to install this i will need to take my valve cover off, it looks like it just barely touch's it on the bottom 2 corners, if it even does.. sence mine is probably cut just a Little bit different than yours will i have any fitment issues?

and on a SIDE NOT, thanks BTW, This head is from a 92 jdm b16, if i order a 99-00 si outcover, it will work correct?

Yeah, it won't go in there unless the valve cover is off. I tried, but it won't snap into place.

were does it snap into? the very bottom corners? i worried mine may not fit right, with the way its cut... may be off just a bit.. (thats my luck)

You don't really have to...unless you deal with a lot of gravel that may find its way up to the timing belt and wreck havoc on your timing belt. I have been running mine for well over a year without that inner piece (mainly because it was ripped to shreds somehow) and it hasn't had a problem yet.
