autopower roll cage
quick question, ive searched around and i never found a clear answer on if it fits gsrs; with a sunroof. or do they make 2 models of it? if it does would i have to take out the headliner? im hoping autopower isnt like cusco... since ive heard cusco makes it only for the non sunroof models. so cusco is crossed out, and ive also heard they only for show and dont really do a great job anyways. any other recommendations on bolt on cages? ill have under 1k to spend. i would go baller status to go with a full welded cage, but i got quoted 3gs to make a design similiar to autopowers 6pt cage with the door bars, and my very very last resort is to go with autopowers roll bar.

Old picture they were Black leather in there just laying down.. everything is removed.. only interior panels and c-pillar bar in there now.
to the original poster.. is your car daily driven..? because it is not ideal to have hard unforgiving metal near your head.
I'm still on the hunt for some nice roll bar padding..

Anywho.. I'm in for an explanation why you would want the cage to bolt to your wheel wheels on a DC chassis.

.. I dunno man.. I've never seen a Kirk racing cage that goes to the wheels wells on a DC chassis.. A buddy of mine has the same kirk cage.. on his type R.. The main hoop he has spots for two different sets of bars.. that way he can clear rear seats, but both bars end up bolting to the frame rails (totally unsafe to have any rear passengers beside a roll bar anyway)

I'm almost positive that the autopower will fit with the sunroof, but I would still confirm by giving them a call.

Re: autopower roll cage
i probably will just give them a call just in case... oh and that thread would be nice if you could find it! i thought the opposite though, i thought it would be better if the rear bars went on the wheel wheels like autopower instead of the rear towards the trunk like kirks. guess i was wrong. still curious to find out how it all works

for what its worth....you shouldn't really put a cage in a car you drive on the road. if you arn't wearing a helmet your head will hit the bar and cause more damage. Just like you shouldn't put a straight back seat in without a roll cage. I know people do it all the time and are fine tho. I wanna put one in but am not for safety reasons. If you arn't going wheel to wheel on track you don't really need one. there are better things you can buy just for show

Re: autopower roll cage
either way im short, im plannign to get the cage, harness and my seat is on the way..the car will see track alot but its not going to be track dedicated, and worst comes to worst i can always take the 2 main hoops off and use it just as a roll bar when i dd it... im getting the cage for a good deal anyways so why not

Re: autopower roll cage
$3000 to do a full welded in cage? Holy ***** batman. A race shop near me that caged my dads crx for NASA/SCCA competition did the entire thing for $1500 or so(mind you this was 10 years ago, that still doesn't constitute a $1500 increase). They did one hell of a job if I do say so myself. They also painted the entire inside of the car after they caged it for no added cost. We asked why and their response was "we thought it would look better if it all matched" Lol

I nailed my head just cleaning around back there.. **** hurts
On the track with a helmet seems fine, but I need roll bar padding asap and that's what I strongly suggest to anyone else.

http://www.ogracing.com/catalog/2-Ca...LL-BAR-PADDING
I like that stuff personally, but in a full 360 degree style. It doesnt have a hard outer shell like some, but if you put it in an area that is always rubbed or what have you it will wear down over time.
EDIT: Found the stuff I use -> http://www.ogracing.com/catalog/2-Ca...LL-BAR-PADDING
