Anyone ever hear of 19mm rear sway subframe issues?
Just about to buy the ST 19mm rear bar to balance this GSR of mine out a little. I did a search and some research and have found that 22mm and up require braces. Anyone ever hear of issues with 19mm? Also how hard could it be to weld in a plate to reinforce the weak area? Where do these subframes usually tear? around the bolt holes or?

22mm and up need reinforcement? I would say anything above stock (14mm) would require reiforcement, and seeing how aftermarket companies hardly make anything under 19mm, then you NEED a reiforcement kit when buying an aftermarket sway.
You just have to buy a reiforcement kit, the BSQ one will run you $20, or you can go for the bling w/ the same function and get an ASR for $190

I was looking at those reinforcement kits and honestly think i could do that and more with my mig welder and some 1/8" plate.

If you're confident do that and pick up an ITR rear sway bar. You'll be happy you did. I'm pretty sure it's cheaper than a ST anyway.

I didnt know the ST sold their rear bar without the tie/reinforcement bar anymore. Just buy the kit and be done with it. 90% of people can get away with the upgrade without any reinforcement, so Im sure some self-modded plates would do the trick as well...but why when you can have cool bling factor added to.

Rear lower tie bars don't do a whole lot, esp. not enough to justify spending $350 on that kit.

On that note i've found two ST part numbers, 51145 and 51156, i can't for the life of me find what the difference is besides the huge change in price. The 51145 is like $119 and the 51156 is a little over 200

One of them is probably that kit with the tie bar and the other is probably less a tie bar... ITR sway bar + beaks kit is $150.

Contact user BSQ here on H-T for his subframe reinforcement kit. $20 shipped.
BTW unless you're getting a fantastic deal on the ST bar, an OEM ITR swaybar can be had from any Acura dealer for around $100.
