Anyone ever had their door handle just break off?
Can't believe this, came out of the grocery store yesterday, went to open the door, and the handle just snapped right off in my hand!
Here's the kicker, I JUST threw out a box full of left-side door parts including handle (though it was red) just last weekend, since I had the box for over 10 years and never used any of the parts.
Sucks, 20 year old car problems I guess. I found out that Carland Acura has a left side handle in the BG33P color for only 60 bucks so I may look into getting that, if I can't epoxy this one back in place. Only reason I want to try epoxy is because the whole car was repainted in the original color, but we didn't bother to get an exact match since we were doing the whole car. So a new door handle probably won't be an exact match, either. Plus the paint on the door handle itself is still in really good shape.

I've had them break like that on two Civics and an Integra. On the Integra I bought rear four door handles and used the alarm to open the doors. You can't hardly buy them new let alone the same color now as I guess people doing it ran them out of stock.

I'm terrified of this happening to me this winter. Every time I'm picking someone up in my
Integra I push open the door from the inside for them so they're not yanking on the handle.

ive had a few break on me over the years. they werent too hard to replace with a new handle but be careful with the tumbler and the key lock its very easy for the little pins in there to fall all over

I just had this happen to me recently. Its a massive pain in the A$$ to replace that handle. I looked everywhere. if you're up to replace it yourself, heres a helpful link from mac_24_seven.s build thread.

oh haha I used to follow Mac's thread back in the day, but don't remember seeing him replace the door handle.
I will try the heaviest-duty epoxy I can find, and if that doesn't work I may even try screws and metal brackets behind the door handle. And if THAT doesn't work, then I'll look at getting a replacement handle.

JB weld, remove handel disassembly, dip both ends of break points into JB weld, place together and hold that way with rubber bands, let cure for 24hr, add more JB weld around breaks, [have to build it up a bit] let cure for another 24hr, you should be good to go, get the correct JB weld.
Did that on a Grand Prix and still good after 3mo. 94

My driver side on my 2nd gen is just the nub the handle used to go on. I have to pull it with a finger then pinch it to open it. My passenger busted just like yours last month. Its such a pita to replace that for now im just saying **** it.

Had an ice storm here last february or march. Thankfully it was the passenger side that broke off. Hopefully it'll deter car jackers. Mechanic said it would cost $100+ in labor. Still open-able though.

is it just the outer part of the handle thats painted, or the entire thing? if it's just the outside, then get the new one, dismantle it and swap the outer painted part to the new one NV just looked at the picture again, I was thinking the plastic piece was black, be glad it's not ford, the truck drivers door handle is broke, replacement handle was only ten bucks, but the dam thing is riveted on, so it's a pain in the *** to fix

The part that broke is painted, so I can't just swap it over, unfortunately. Look at the pic I posted, you can see the white break points - long section across the top and 2 small places on the bottom. That was all one piece with the painted exterior handle, before.

And knowing me as soon as I installed them my keyless entry battery would probably die.
