Default Air box humming.

Hello everyone, I have a question regarding a noise that is coming out of my airbox. It sounds like a sort of humming noise thats loud enough to hear from inside the car with the radio slightly turned up. I cant figure it out. One of my friends thinks its manifold blowback? or something. Please, if you know or have a good idea of what it might be, let me know. Thanks.

Are you sure its coming from your airbox? Sometimes you can get a sort of whinding noise as you accelerate as your radio is on which can be caused by a capacitor in your alternator.

Have you all checked for leaks and maybe an issue with the butterfly?

Im kinda shooting outta left-field here since no one else has chimed in.

is it a humm or a whistle? because if you have a modified airbox or aftermarket intake they all tend to whistle a quite a bit. I can hear mine from inside the car...

I have narrowed it down to two things. Either I have a really bad misfire or the harmonic balancer im using is not working right. I pulled one off a DA in a local wrecking yard and I have a DC. The reason I think it might be a misfire is because I can hear it through my exhaust. I can kind of hear a humming noise from the exhaust similar to the one in the engine bay.

One of my friends also said that aftermarket pulleys can cause an engine to make a weird humming noise. Maybe that might answer some of the other problems people are having. My engine has 200+ thousand miles without any major work done to maintain it.
