'95 GSR - Engine vibration at 3500-4000rpm
hello,
i was wondering if anyone knows why my gsr vibrates harshly under mild throttle at around 3500-4000 rpm, especially in 2nd gear. it shakes to the point where the windows rattle in the doors.
95 gsr, 85k miles
only bolt ons
thx in advance

it's not a rattle, more like a shuddering under acceleration...only seems to happen in 2nd gear

it's your A-pipe. If you don't believe just ask you local acura dealership. DO NOT get them to replace it - 800$. Just buy an aftermarket header (DC 4-1), which will replace the A-pipe. Many 95 GSR's have a defective A-pipe.
The A-pipe is between your exhaust manifold and you cat.

Well if it is the exhaust A-pipe then it would rattle throughout gears....this SHAKE seems to be performance related issues..may be you need a tune up?

Shake the engine. Check for loose bolt and a premature wear and tear on the stock bushing especially on the tranny engine mount. They look really weak IMO.

i know it's not the A-pipe...for one thing i have a dc header, and it wouldnt cause the windows to shake. i have the ES motor mount inserts too, but the vibration only started recently. the thing that really confuses me is that it only happens in 2nd gear
thanks for the suggestions though

Maybe you need to resurface the flywheel or something is up with your clutch. Try taking out the ES bushings and see if that changes anything. Hope this helps, Rich.'

Did you find the reply to your problem? I have a 99 honda Accord and got the timing belt replaced only to have bad vibrations when the car reaches 1100 rpm, either in park or in motion. the mechanic undid all that he had done, did fuel injector service for free, I got new NGK plugs installed, cables look good but the problem occurs only at that RPM. overall feel is that it vibrates but 1100 is really the peak or the dumps.
