wassup HT, I know many people have asked this redundant question, but I am having trouble starting my Integra. have all 4 grounds, new NGK sparks and wires, new battery, starter, main relay, fuel pump primes and all. a little insight, I swapped out a H series the car came with to my stock 96 B18c1 motor. I know this may sound stupid, but I am also missing the actual hardline that connects my Goodridge SS clutch line to the actual clutch slave cylinder, due to it breaking swapping out my old motor. I already ordered a brand new one from the dealer. can this be the reason it will not start? or can somebody give me an insight on how exactly pressing the clutch starts the motor. I was under the impression the sensor behind the clutch pedal can still somehow start the car. I know that since I am missing that line, I am not sending pressure to the slave and the whole process. any insight, thanks in advance.

bump, need some help. my timing is good aswell, both cam gear indicators are pointing the same way. currently replaced the coil in my dizzy, same thing, wont start. will the ignitor have any luck?

Please clarify...

Engine cranks but will not fire, [start and run].

Or

Engine will not even crank, [turn over/starter not working].

They are two completely differant problems with differant trouble shooting directions.

Clutch has nothing to do with engin cranking or starting/running. 94

Sorry, let me clarify, it cranks but does not fire. I hear my starter, my fuel pump prime, new battery, new fuses. I'm stumped.

i have to press my clutch pedal to start the car lol.
if the pedal doesnt engage the switch or the stopper pad is broken then no start.

same here, haha. well, like I said I have a Hardline from the MC to my SS Goodridge line and I just ordered the actual hardline that goes from that to the slave because I accidentally broke it taking out my old swap. but my friend is also doing a swap on his car and he is missing that line and his car starts without it, so I know it can not be that.

ecu/back up fuse under hood? checked for spark? have gas in the car? little nick nacks here and there to check.

fuses are all intact. just checked for spark and there is none. recently changed my coil, but now I think it's my ICM. gas has half a tank as well.

anybody know if a D16Y8 ICM will work on an OBD1 GSR distributor? I have a spare one laying around that I know for a fact works.

I would check the distributor again do you have someone that you could borrow one from just to check?

The clutch safety switch on your friends car may be bypassed. Look under your dash at the top of the clutch peddle and see if the connector there is connected to the switch. If it is then disconnect it and use a jumper wire to connect the 2 pins on the connector. That will bypass the clutch safety switch and allow the car to start.

If engine cranks the CIS, [clutch interlock switch] is not the problem..

For no spark I would confirm power, [12V+] to the distributor, black/yellow with ign. switch in both the run and start positions, if good, confirm power, [12V+] to IGP1 and IGP2 at the ECU/ECM, also with ingn in both run and start positions.

The ICM, [igniter] is a common problem, does tach move at all when cranking to start? 94

thanks guys, it was the distributor, got an OEM one and redid my timing to TDC. now to address my 5K idle. :I
