Default is my friend full of s*&t ??

alright the story is that if i let my kind of close friend work on my car and do sumthing for an hour he can do sumthing to make it fast.

Now the thing is hes owned alot of DA's and they were all stock ecept cai and somehow he made them quick. like hes raced my buddy in his 2000 subaru legacy gt and raped him.lol

Is there any way that u guys no of tweaking a stock integra 90-92 non vtec that can make it go fast btw i dont think he knows how to change the timing on the cams and she wont tell me exacly what hell do but he says its got nothing to do with the computer.

Let me know if u guys think hes full of **** or if theres sumthin he might know how to do and what it could be.

have you even been in a fast car? and please stop street racing but to answer your question, he probably advanced the timing with the dizzy or something stupid like that

Ha, I've known people to mess with their throttle cable, and like pennies_hatchie said, he must have advanced timing...

he probably put some mugen, vtec, spoon stickers on it. 8.3 whp per sticker.

hahahhaahahaha. well there is a way to make it faster, but its a stupid way i think and it is advancing the dizzy, but some ppl will actually file out the dizzy moutning holes to further advance it. if that makes sense to u. don't recommend it but thats whats im thinking he'll do

Maybe he dropped weight by taking out some of his interior?

Why not advance the distributor? It's a low compression non vtec motor. Even if it knocks a little...how bad could it be? Put some premium in that motha and advance the F$%K out of the timing.

Worst thing that could happen? blow up, rinse, repeat. No big deal....

That scenario would never happen.

Is your friend full of s*&t???

Yes indeed, he is...

BUT I do think tightening your throttle cable gives it better response???

Maybe your friend is checking all the basics to make sure it is running properly to begin with, then removing the resonator on the intake and advancing the timing.

k i forgot to mention also all the integras hes had pull hard all the way to 8k and after 6k in mine it doesnt do **** if anything from 6k and up it slows down. would advancing the timing solve this loss of power between 6k and 8.

Your stock motor wont go that high unless you have the B-17. My rs tachs at around 7,200.

a stock LS wont make power at 8k rpm. maybe hes a fast DIY and throws some cams and valvetrain in there in that one hour LOL. doubt it.

advancing the timing might help but its not going to make that big of a difference.

the damn thing redlines at 6800rpm so why go any higher anyways? an LS is not made for high revving and WILL give in eventually. and no if your friend just grabs some tools with no other parts and works on your car, there will be minimal gains. nothing that will make power past the stock redline anyways.

if its a stock engine with a CAI its not fast. its just faster than the other slow car hes racing. or =maybe he double-clutching it on the top end, or has nitrous under the passenger seat. >

There's nothing you can do under the hood w/out adding parts to make the car significantly faster.

Even advancing the timing, if you're lucky enough and you're able to nail it down w/out a dyno, would not make a significant difference. Advancing the base timing does not guarantee you an increase in power. When you advance the timing, you hit a point where the power stays the same even increasing it any further except that you'll knock and could blow the motor. It's called MBT.

If you advance the timing too far, the mixture ignites while the piston is traveling up, so the pressure fights the piston on the way up and you lose power. (That is a little bit simplified). You don't want the combustion chamber pressure at it's highest before the piston hits TDC, or right when the piston hits TDC. You want the pressure in the combustion chamber to be highest when the piston is 15 degrees past top dead center, in other words, when it is just about on it's way down.

Think of it as pushing a swing. You have to start your body in motion before you push, but if you start too early, you'll push the swing as it is still coming backwards, and you end up slowing it down. You time your push perfectly so the swing is just starting to move away from you and you get the most power.

You could remove the hot air intake portion of the intake, bypass the coolant from the FITV and IACV, tighten the throttle cable to the tight side of spec, adjust your clutch cable, adjust the valves to the high side of spec, index the spark plugs, advance the ignition timing to the high side of spec and cross your fingers (in the case of my Civic I was getting better power at 16 than 18 until I switched to a colder plug), clean off the ignition rotor and distributer cap buttons with a wire brush, and you'd be lucky to get about 3hp and 3-5mph top speed. That is barely at the threshold of being able to tell the difference.

For comparison purposes, removing 20lbs from the car is the same as increasing hp by 1 throughout the entire power band. You have to remove 60lbs to be able to even feel a difference, and many people wont even notice it.

Well, since he said that he does nothing with the computer, you are limited to the original ignition and fuel cut governors. I would like to see how he makes the car rev to 8 grand when fuel cuts off at 7 grand.

So I guess that they can go 140 also, because after all, the speedo goes that high.
Simply put, if your friend is revving stock B18As to 8000 RPMs, without adding parts (which is impossible, btw). He is not only full of ****, but dangerous to mechanical things.

Read Suspended Hatch's post for further explanation as to why your friend is full of it.

if the car is not taken care of and it gets it proper work done then it will get faster than what it was
