Default b18c1 Skunk2 intake manifold ECU question

I want to get rid of the IAB intake manifold on my 2001 GSR and run the Skunk2 unit, i've done my reserch and know what im doing and know not to keep running the p72 but I have a few questions about the ECU part of it:

-Can I run a p73 and keep the check engine light out?
-Can I run a JDM p73 and not have to worry about the immobilizer?

Thanks for the help

I have a skunk2 manifold and a 68mm throttle body and im running the stock p72 ecu and it runs fine. I mean I made more power, I would probably make more if I tuned it but thats a later thing.

No you have no reason for the p73 ecu. You need a chipped obd1 ecu with a gsr map on a p30 base. That will eliminate the Iab.

Mouab18c1 thanks for your advice, I just want to pick your brain a little more:

The reason I am asking is because a friend of mine is running a CTR ecu in his Si, even though the CTR computer is not for an Si nor is it a USDM computer, it was a noticable difference when it was installed and did not set the MIL (and I know the Si's dont have the Immobilizer so that part of my original question doesnt apply). Everyone knows how much different a CTR engine is than an Si B16a2, and everyone knows how much different an ITR engine is than a GS-R B18c1, if I ran an ITR style intake manifold what would there really be the difference between what my friend is doing (with no issues) and what I want to do? Thanks again for your advice.

I would use a chipped gsr map p28 with that skunk2 intake

The only reason it feels better is because the ITR/CTR ecu is dumping more fuel into the motor than a Si ecu would. It's not logical since you don't even know if it's too much or what not.

don't use the R ecu

use your stock ecu and fpr, tune with a wideband or wing it using fuel trims with the scan tool. oddly enough you'll probably be reducing fuel psi by a couple pounds with the swap.
